“When I walked through the halls of Kvadrat 500, I saw beautiful and unexpected images and connections between them that I will be happy to share. The building was originally a printing house, and perhaps that is why literature is everywhere in it even today. I heard Hemingway talking about Jules Paskin, looking at a girl with a doll the story came to me about how Kafka invents stories about her doll to comfort a little girl he met in the park, I wondered what the connection is between Franz von Stuck's "Lucifer" and Bulgarian diabolism, I looked at Courbet and remembered the remarkable history of the ownership of the scandalous "Origin of the World", I remembered the poem by Maria P. Vasileva, literally inspired by the museum and by the work of Utagawa Kunimasa, I was surprised how the poet Nikola Petrov has little in common with the artist Nikola Petrov, and the artist Stefan Ivanov made a nice portrait of Gabe, who is close to her beloved Boyan Penev, and only Bagryana is missing from the triangle, but there is a side from another triangle nearby - Yavorov, lonely and melancholic, then I came across "Emigrants" of Daumier, who seemed to be whispering Zagaevski and Yavorov (again), and next to a sculpture by Henry Moore I thought of Valeri Petrov, his daughter Boyana and her husband Ivo Hadjimishev and his photograph of Moore's hands, nearby are also Lyubomir Dalchev (and Atanas , of course), as well as Hans Grundig's wonderful reading woman, next to Svetlin Rusev I thought about unexpected kinship by choice and about Konstantin Pavlov's poem about him. I was surprised to see that between a Gogol painting by Bulgakova (!) there are works by Nedko Solakov and Volodya Kenarev, which I like. And also Nikolay Rainov, Pencho Slaveykov, Elin Pelin, the wave of Hokusai, haiku and the wave of "New Generation" and Voev. And I would still see and share, but the gallery was closing and I had to leave." - Stefan Ivanov
